Press On in Doing Good

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Galatians 6:9

Background:
Paul’s letter to the Galatians emphasizes faith, grace, and living in the Spirit. In this verse, Paul encourages believers to remain steadfast in their good works, even when the results seem delayed or unseen. This promise of a future harvest reminds us that God’s timing is perfect, and He sees every act of faithfulness. Paul’s words are a call to endurance and faith, particularly for those feeling weary in their spiritual journey.

Devotional:
Doing good can sometimes feel exhausting, especially when we don’t see immediate results. Whether it’s in serving others, sharing the gospel, or simply staying faithful in your daily walk with Christ, it’s easy to grow weary. Galatians 6:9 offers a word of encouragement: Don’t give up.

God’s promise of a harvest assures us that our efforts are not in vain. Like a farmer planting seeds, we may not see the fruit of our labor right away, but in God’s perfect timing, the rewards will come. Whether it’s a life transformed, a heart encouraged, or your own spiritual growth, God is at work, even when we can’t see it.

Take this verse as a reminder to keep going. Stay faithful, trusting that God’s plan is unfolding. The good you do today has eternal significance.

Reflection:

  • What areas of your life or ministry make you feel weary?
  • How can you trust God’s promise of a harvest as you persevere?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the encouragement to keep doing good. When I feel weary, remind me of Your faithfulness and the promise of a harvest in Your time. Strengthen me to press on and trust in Your plan. Help me to persevere with joy, knowing my labor is not in vain. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Application:

  • Identify one area where you feel discouraged in doing good and ask God for renewed strength and perspective.
  • Encourage someone else who may be weary in their faith journey, reminding them of God’s promise in this verse.
  • Set a specific goal for how you can persist in doing good this week, even in small ways.

Takeaway:
Faithful perseverance in doing good will yield a harvest in God’s perfect time. Trust Him, stay the course, and don’t give up.
