Scripture:
🕊️ “O Lord of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you!”
Psalm 84:12 (ESV)
📜 Background
Psalm 84 is a psalm of longing for God’s presence, often attributed to the sons of Korah. The entire psalm expresses deep desire for the courts of the Lord and highlights the joy and blessing of those who dwell in God’s presence and put their trust in Him. Verse 12 concludes the psalm with a powerful affirmation: trust in God is the pathway to true blessing.
On Palm Sunday, we remember how Jesus entered Jerusalem as a humble King—on a donkey, not a war horse. The people shouted “Hosanna!” in trust and praise, not yet fully realizing the kind of kingdom He was bringing. Like the crowds, we are called to trust in the King, even when His path leads us through the unexpected.
✨ Devotional
As Jesus rode into Jerusalem, He fulfilled prophecy, embraced His mission, and invited the world to follow Him—not with swords or rebellion, but with trust. Palm Sunday is a celebration, but it’s also a moment of surrender. The King we welcome does not overthrow with force, but rules with grace and sacrifice.
Psalm 84:12 declares that those who trust in the Lord are blessed. That trust isn’t passive—it’s an active choice to follow Jesus even when the way seems unclear. Trust led Jesus into Jerusalem, knowing what awaited. Trust allows us to wave our palm branches with open hands, saying, “I will follow You, no matter what.”
This Holy Week, can we trust like that? Will we follow the King who leads not just to the temple courts, but to the cross and beyond?
💬 Reflection
- What does trusting Jesus look like in your life right now?
- Are there areas where you are holding back, reluctant to surrender to His path?
- How does Palm Sunday challenge or deepen your understanding of Jesus as King?
🙏 Prayer
Lord of hosts, You are faithful and true. On this Palm Sunday, I choose to trust in You—our humble and glorious King. Help me to follow You with a surrendered heart, to praise You not just with words, but with my life. As You lead, I will walk with confidence, knowing I am blessed in Your care. In Jesus’ name, amen.
🪴 Application
Look for one area today where you can actively choose trust over control. Maybe it’s a decision, a conversation, or a simple step of obedience. Say aloud, “Blessed is the one who trusts in You,” and walk it out in faith.
📌 Takeaway
🕊️ True blessing is found in trusting the King who rode into Jerusalem with love, not power. Palm Sunday invites us to follow Him with hearts fully surrendered.
