🔹 Scripture:
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’” — Psalm 91:1–2 (NIV)
🔹 Background:
Psalm 91 is a declaration of divine protection, a promise that those who seek refuge in God will find safety under His wings. This theme of shelter and redemption is beautifully mirrored in Ruth’s story. As a widow in a foreign land, Ruth had no security—until she placed herself under the care of her kinsman-redeemer, Boaz.
🔹 Devotional:
Ruth’s journey was one of trust. She left Moab, followed Naomi, and gleaned in the fields, relying on God’s provision. But her greatest act of faith came in Ruth 3:9, when she asked Boaz to spread his garment over her—a symbolic request for protection and redemption.
This echoes the promise of Psalm 91:1–2. Just as Ruth sought refuge under Boaz’s covering, we are invited to dwell in the shelter of the Most High. God is our fortress, our safe place, our Redeemer. When life feels uncertain, His presence is our security.
Like Ruth, we must choose to trust—not in our own strength, but in the One who covers us with His grace.
🔹 Reflection:
🔸 Where do you need to seek refuge in God today?
🔸 How does Ruth’s story deepen your understanding of God’s protection?
🔸 What does it mean for you to dwell in the shelter of the Most High?
🔹 Prayer:
Lord, I come to You seeking refuge. Like Ruth, I place myself under Your covering, trusting in Your redemption. Be my fortress, my safe place, my Redeemer. Help me dwell in Your presence and rest in Your promises. Amen.
🔹 Application:
🌿 Meditate on Psalm 91:1–2, reflecting on God’s protection.
🌿 Read Ruth 3, considering how trust leads to redemption.
🌿 Choose a hymn that speaks of refuge and surrender, letting it minister to your heart.
🔹 Takeaway:
God’s shelter is not just a place—it’s a promise. Like Ruth, step into His covering and trust that He will redeem, protect, and restore.
