🤝 Scripture
📖 Genesis 46:28–34 (KJV)
“And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father… and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.” (v.29)
🕊️ Background
After years of separation, sorrow, and silence, Joseph and Jacob are finally reunited. Joseph, once presumed dead, now stands as a ruler in Egypt. Jacob, aged and weary, sees the son he thought he’d lost forever. This moment is more than emotional—it’s a divine fulfillment of restoration long in the making.
🌟 Devotional
The reunion between Joseph and Jacob is drenched in tears, tenderness, and testimony. Joseph doesn’t send for his father with formality—he personally prepares his chariot and rushes to embrace him. Their meeting is not just a family moment; it’s a sacred scene of redemption.
Jacob’s response is telling:
“Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive.” (v.30)
It’s as if the ache of years has been healed in one embrace. God’s providence has not only preserved Joseph but also prepared a place for Jacob’s family to flourish.
This passage reminds us that God’s redemptive work often culminates in deeply personal moments—where broken relationships are mended, longings fulfilled, and hope restored. Even in Egypt, a foreign land, God’s hand is unmistakably present.
