đž Theme: The Harvest
đ Scripture:
“When you harvest your fields, do not cut the grain at the edges of the fields, and do not go back to cut the heads of grain that were left; leave them for poor people and foreigners. I am the Lord your God.” â Leviticus 23:22 (GNTD)
đ Background:
Leviticus 23 outlines sacred festivals and rhythms of worship for Godâs people. Right in the middle of instructions about the harvest, God inserts a command about justice and compassion: leave part of the yield for the poor and the foreigner. This wasnât optionalâit was worship. Godâs provision was never meant to be hoarded, but shared.
đĄ Devotional:
One fall, I helped pack produce boxes for a local food ministry in our community. As we filled each box with apples, greens, and sweet potatoes, I thought about how intentional God is with His abundance. Leviticus 23:22 isnât just about farmingâitâs about making space. Space for others to receive. Space for generosity to grow.
Godâs harvest always includes others. When we gather what Heâs givenâwhether itâs resources, wisdom, or spiritual insightâweâre called to leave room for those who need it most. The edges of our lives are sacred places. Theyâre where compassion meets provision.
If youâve been blessed this season, ask: Who am I leaving space for? Because in Godâs economy, harvest is never just for oneâitâs for all.
đŞ Reflection Questions:
- What âedgesâ of your life could be left open for othersâtime, resources, encouragement?
- How does generosity reflect Godâs heart in seasons of abundance?
- Who in your community might need to gather from what youâve been given?
đ Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the harvest Youâve placed in my life.
Help me not to gather selfishly, but generously.
Show me how to leave space for othersâto share, to serve, to include.
Let my abundance reflect Your compassion.
Amen.
đ ď¸ Application:
Identify one way you can leave space for someone else this weekâwhether itâs donating, mentoring, or simply listening.
Write it down and commit to it as an act of worship.
Let your harvest be a blessing beyond your borders.
đ Takeaway:
Godâs harvest is never meant to be gathered alone.
Leave space at the edgesâbecause grace is always meant to overflow.
