🌊 Theme: Anchored in Hope
📖 Scripture:
“You have been raised to life with Christ, so set your hearts on the things that are in heaven, where Christ sits on his throne at the right side of God. Keep your minds fixed on things there, not on things here on earth.” — Colossians 3:1–2 (GNTD)
📜 Background:
Paul’s letter to the Colossians reminds believers of their new identity in Christ. Chapter 3 begins with a call to shift focus—away from earthly distractions and toward heavenly realities. These verses anchor us in the truth that our hope is not found in what we see, but in who we belong to.
💡 Devotional:
One October morning, I stood at the edge of Helton Creek Falls, watching the water cascade down smooth stone. My eyes followed the flow upward, tracing the source. I thought of Colossians 3: “Set your hearts on the things that are in heaven…”
It’s easy to get pulled down by the weight of the world—news, needs, noise. But hope lifts our gaze. When we remember we’ve been raised with Christ, our perspective shifts. We stop chasing temporary fixes and start seeking eternal truths. Fixing our minds on heaven doesn’t mean ignoring earth—it means living with purpose, anchored in what lasts.
If your heart feels heavy today, lift your eyes. Christ is seated. You are raised. There is hope above the fog.
🪞 Reflection Questions:
- What earthly distractions have been pulling your focus lately?
- How does remembering your identity in Christ change your perspective?
- What helps you fix your mind on heavenly things during busy or difficult days?
🙏 Prayer:
Lord, thank You for raising me to life with Christ.
Help me lift my eyes above the noise and fix my heart on You.
When I feel overwhelmed, remind me that You are seated, and I am secure.
Anchor me in hope, and guide my thoughts toward heaven.
Amen.
🛠️ Application:
Write down one earthly worry that’s been weighing on you.
Beside it, write: “My eyes are lifted higher.”
Each time that worry resurfaces this week, pause and pray, asking God to reset your focus.
📌 Takeaway:
Hope lifts our gaze.
Anchored in Christ, we fix our minds on heaven and live with purpose here on earth.
