š¦ Theme: The Table of Thanksgiving
š Scripture:
Luke 7:36ā50 (GNTD)
A Pharisee invited Jesus to dinner, and while they were at the table, a woman known for her sinful life entered, weeping. She washed Jesusā feet with her tears, dried them with her hair, and anointed them with perfume. Though criticized by the host, Jesus honored her love and faith, declaring her sins forgiven and her faith saving her.
š Background:
This passage unfolds at a dinner hosted by Simon the Pharisee. It contrasts two hearts: one proud and distant, the other broken and surrendered. The womanās act of worship is bold, vulnerable, and deeply personal. Jesus doesnāt recoilāHe receives her, defends her, and blesses her. The Table of Mercy is open to all who come with repentant hearts.
š” Devotional:
One November evening, I sat at a candlelit table with friends, sharing stories of grace and second chances. The warmth reminded me of Luke 7: a woman welcomed at Jesusā feet, forgiven and free.
She wasnāt invitedābut she came. She wasnāt respectedābut she was received. Mercy made room for her. At The Table of Thanksgiving, we remember that we donāt earn our seatāweāre welcomed by grace. Jesus sees past reputation and reaches for the heart. He honors love over status, surrender over pride.
If you feel unworthy today, remember: mercy has made a place for you. Come as you are. The table is set.
šŖ Reflection Questions:
- What holds you back from approaching Jesus with honesty and surrender?
- How has His mercy changed your story?
- Who in your life needs to know thereās a place for them at His table?
š Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for Your mercy.
You welcome me when I feel unworthy and love me beyond my failures.
Help me come to You with a surrendered heart.
Let my life reflect Your grace and invite others to Your table.
Amen.
š ļø Application:
This week, write a note or message to someone who may feel far from God.
Share how His mercy has met you, and invite them to experience His grace.
Let your tableāliteral or spiritualābe a place of welcome.
š Takeaway:
At The Table of Thanksgiving, mercy makes room.
Jesus welcomes the broken, forgives the repentant, and honors the heart that loves.
