🦃 November Theme: The Table of Thanksgiving
📖 Scripture
Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
📚 Background
Proverbs, often attributed to Solomon, is a book of wisdom offering practical guidance for godly living. These verses from chapter 3 are among the most beloved, calling believers to surrender their own reasoning and fully trust in God’s direction. The promise is clear: when we release control and submit our ways to Him, He will faithfully guide our steps.
💬 Devotional
A few autumns ago, I was navigating a season of uncertainty—career decisions, family transitions, and a heart full of questions. I remember sitting at our kitchen table, journal open, coffee cooling, and this verse echoing in my mind: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart…” I had read it countless times, but that morning, it felt like an invitation to let go of the illusion of control.
Trusting God doesn’t mean we’ll always understand the path. It means we believe He sees the whole map when we only see a step. At the Table of Trust, we’re invited to bring our questions, our fears, and our plans—and lay them down. Not because we’re giving up, but because we’re giving over.
This November, as we gather around tables of gratitude, let’s also gather around the deeper table—the one where trust is the centerpiece. When we release our grip, we make room for God’s guidance, and that is something to be truly thankful for.
🪞 Reflection Questions
- What area of your life are you struggling to trust God with right now?
- How have you seen God “make your paths straight” in the past?
- What does it look like to submit your ways to Him today?
🛠️ Application: Living It Out
- Start your day with surrender. Before diving into tasks, pray Proverbs 3:5–6 aloud, naming one area you’re releasing to God.
- Create a “Trust List.” Write down situations where God has been faithful in the past. Let it fuel your present trust.
- Practice open-handedness. When making decisions this week, pause and ask, “Am I leaning on my understanding or God’s?”
📌 Key Takeaways
- Trust is not passive—it’s a daily act of surrender.
- God’s wisdom surpasses our understanding, even when the path feels unclear.
- Submitting to God opens the way for His direction and peace.
