A Prophet Like Moses

🎄 December Theme: The Journey to the Manger

📖 Scripture

Deuteronomy 18:15–19 (NIV)
“The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him
I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.”

📚 Background

In Deuteronomy, Moses prepares Israel for life without his leadership. He assures them that God will raise up another prophet who will speak His words faithfully. This promise ultimately points to Jesus—the true and greater Prophet—who not only speaks God’s word but embodies it. The manger is the fulfillment of this covenant promise: God’s Word made flesh, dwelling among us.

💬 Devotional

My husband once told me about a time when he had to trust someone else to lead after years of being in charge. He said, “It wasn’t easy to step back, but I had to believe God would raise up the right person.” His words remind me of Moses preparing Israel for the future.

Deuteronomy 18:15–19 is a promise that God would not leave His people without guidance. Just as Moses led Israel, Jesus came as the ultimate Prophet, speaking truth, revealing God’s heart, and leading us to salvation. The manger is not just the beginning of a story—it is the arrival of the One who fulfills this promise.

On our journey to the manger, we remember that Jesus is the Prophet like Moses, but greater. He doesn’t just deliver God’s word—He is the Word. Listening to Him is not optional; it is life itself.
