Choosing Obedience

📿 Forty Steps with Jesus: Walking the Road to the Cross

🕊️ Welcome Moment

Obedience is not always dramatic. Often it looks like quiet surrender, small decisions, and daily choices to trust God’s way over our own. Psalm 25 is the prayer of a heart that wants to be led—one that recognizes that God’s path is always better, even when it is unfamiliar or stretching.

As you walk these Forty Steps with Jesus, today’s passage invites you to choose obedience not out of duty, but out of love for the One who leads with mercy and truth.

📖 Scripture Immersion

Psalm 25:4–10 (NIV)
“Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me… All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful toward those who keep the demands of his covenant.”

Read slowly. Notice the posture of the psalmist: Show me. Teach me. Guide me.

🌄 Snapshot

Imagine hiking a winding mountain trail with a guide who knows every turn, every hidden danger, every breathtaking overlook. You can’t see what’s ahead, but the guide can. You follow—not because you understand the path, but because you trust the one leading you.

This is the heart of obedience.
Not blind compliance.
Not fearful submission.
But trust—deep, steady trust in the God who sees the whole path.

🔍 Deep Dive

“Show me your ways, Lord…”
Obedience begins with openness.
A willingness to be taught.
A heart that says, “Lead me.”

“…teach me your paths.”
God’s paths are learned, not assumed.
They require listening, slowing, and seeking.

“Guide me in your truth…”
Truth is not merely information—it is direction.
God guides through His Word, His Spirit, and His faithful character.

“…for you are God my Savior.”
Obedience flows from relationship.
We follow because we know the One who saves us.

“All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful…”
Every path God leads you on is marked by love and faithfulness.
Even the difficult ones.
Even the ones you wouldn’t have chosen.

“…toward those who keep the demands of his covenant.”
Obedience is not about perfection—it is about alignment.
Aligning your steps with God’s heart.
Aligning your choices with His truth.

As you walk toward the cross with Jesus, remember:
Obedience is the daily choice to trust the One who leads you with love.
