đż Forty Steps with Jesus: Walking the Road to the Cross
đď¸ Welcome Moment
Jesus never rushed past people. He saw themâreally saw them. Not as crowds, interruptions, or problems, but as beloved souls in need of a Shepherd. His compassion was not a feeling alone; it moved Him to teach, heal, touch, restore, and call His followers into the same mission.
As you walk these Forty Steps with Jesus, todayâs passage invites you to see the world through His eyesâeyes filled with mercy, tenderness, and urgency.
đ Scripture Immersion
Matthew 9:35â38 (NIV)
âWhen he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd⌠âThe harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.ââ
Read slowly. Let Jesusâ compassion shape your own.
đ Snapshot
Imagine Jesus walking through villagesâdust on His feet, crowds pressing in, needs everywhere. People come with sickness, fear, confusion, spiritual hunger. No one is turned away. No story is too messy. No burden too heavy.
Then Jesus pauses.
He looks at the crowds.
And His heart breaks.
He sees their exhaustion.
He sees their wandering.
He sees their longing for hope.
And from that deep well of compassion, He turns to His disciples and says:
âAsk the Lord of the harvest to send out workers.â
This is not just a call for thenâit is a call for now.
