Light in the Fog

🌊 Theme: Anchored in Hope

📖 Scripture:
“You are like light for the whole world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bowl; instead, it is put on the lampstand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.”Matthew 5:14–16 (GNTD)

📜 Background:
These verses come from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, where He calls His followers to live distinctively in a dark world. Light is a symbol of truth, goodness, and hope. Jesus reminds us that our lives are meant to shine—not for attention, but to reflect the glory of God and guide others toward Him.

💡 Devotional:
One foggy October morning, I walked along a trail. The mist was thick, and visibility low. But one porch light glowed through the haze—steady, warm, and unmistakable. I thought of Matthew 5:14–16: “Your light must shine before people…”

Sometimes life feels foggy—uncertain, heavy, unclear. But even then, our light matters. Anchored in hope, we shine not because everything is perfect, but because God is present. Our kindness, our courage, our faith—they pierce the fog. They help others find their way.

If you feel hidden or dim today, remember: your light is needed. Don’t hide it. Let it shine, even through the mist.

🪞 Reflection Questions:

  • What foggy or unclear season are you walking through right now?
  • How can your life reflect God’s hope in this moment?
  • What does it mean to “shine before people” in your daily routine?

🙏 Prayer:
Lord, thank You for calling me to be light.
Even when life feels foggy, help me shine with hope.
Let my actions reflect Your love, and guide others toward Your truth.
Anchor me in Your presence, and use me for Your glory.
Amen.

🛠️ Application:
Write down one way you can shine hope today—through a word, a gesture, or a prayer.
Beside it, write: “My light matters.”
Each time you feel discouraged this week, speak that truth aloud and ask God to help you shine.

📌 Takeaway:
Even in the fog, your light matters.
Anchored in hope, you reflect the presence of God to a world searching for direction.
