Seek First

✨ January Theme: Set My Course

🕊️ Welcome Moment

You stand at the edge of a new day, a new year, a new season. The calendar is blank, the path unwritten. Plans swirl, goals rise, and questions linger.

But before you chart your course, Jesus offers a compass:
Seek first the Kingdom.

This is not just a principle—it’s a posture. It’s the way of alignment, clarity, and peace. Today, we begin not with strategy, but with surrender. Not with hustle, but with seeking.

📖 Scripture Immersion

Matthew 6:33 (NIV)
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

Let this verse be your guiding star—simple, powerful, and deeply freeing.

🌄 Snapshot

Picture a traveler preparing for a long journey. She gathers supplies, maps, and tools. But before she takes a single step, she kneels and asks:
“Lord, where are You leading?”

She doesn’t just want to move—she wants to move with purpose.
She doesn’t just want to arrive—she wants to arrive where God intends.

This is the heart of Matthew 6:33. Seeking first is not about ignoring life’s needs—it’s about trusting that when God is first, everything else finds its place.

🔍 Deep Dive

“Seek first…”
This is a call to priority. Not seek only. Not seek eventually. Seek first. Before decisions, before distractions, before demands.

“…his kingdom and his righteousness…”
God’s kingdom is His rule, His reign, His way. His righteousness is His character, His truth, His holiness. Seeking these means aligning our lives with His values, His voice, His vision.

“…and all these things will be given to you…”
Jesus had just spoken of food, clothing, and daily needs. He’s not dismissing them—He’s promising provision. When we seek Him first, He takes care of the rest.

This is the foundation of a surrendered life.
This is how we set our course—with God at the center.

🧭 Companion Questions

  1. What does “seeking first” look like in your daily rhythms?
  2. What are you tempted to seek before God’s kingdom?
  3. How can you realign your priorities to reflect trust in God’s provision?

🚶‍♀️ Pilgrimage Practice

  • Morning Alignment: Begin each day this week with a simple prayer: “Lord, I seek You first.”
  • Kingdom Lens: Before making a decision, pause and ask, “Does this reflect God’s kingdom and righteousness?”
  • Provision Journal: Keep a small journal of ways God provides for you this week—big or small. Let it build your trust.

🙏 Closing Prayer

Father, as I set my course this year, I choose to seek You first. Not just in moments of need, but in every moment. Align my heart with Your kingdom, shape my life with Your righteousness, and teach me to trust Your provision. May my priorities reflect Your presence, and may my journey be marked by surrender and peace. Amen.
