Come, Holy Spirit

Walk in the Spirit: Living Faith in Ordinary Time

Welcome Moment

There are moments in the Christian life when heaven feels especially near — when God breathes fresh strength, fresh courage, fresh clarity into ordinary people. Acts 2:4 captures one of those moments. The disciples were waiting, praying, hoping… and then the Spirit came.

As we begin our June theme, Walk in the Spirit: Living Faith in Ordinary Time, today’s devotional invites you to open your heart to the same Spirit who fills, empowers, and renews God’s people today.

Scripture Immersion

Acts 2:4 “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.”

Read it slowly. Let the wonder of this moment stir your spirit.

Snapshot

Imagine a room filled with quiet expectation. The disciples gather, unsure of what comes next, but certain of one thing — Jesus told them to wait for the Spirit.

Then suddenly, the atmosphere shifts. A sound like rushing wind. A flame-like presence resting on each one. Hearts ignited. Voices empowered. Fear replaced with boldness.

Ordinary people became vessels of extraordinary grace.

This is the Spirit’s work — not just then, but now.

Deep Dive

“All of them…” Not a select few. Not the most gifted or the most spiritual. All were filled. The Spirit is for every believer.

“…were filled with the Holy Spirit…” To be filled is to be empowered, renewed, awakened. It is God’s life flowing into your life. His strength replacing your weakness. His courage overcoming your fear.

“…and began to speak…” The Spirit moves us outward. He gives voice to the gospel, compassion to our actions, and boldness to our witness.

“…as the Spirit gave them ability.” The Spirit equips you for what God calls you to do. You don’t have to manufacture strength. You simply receive.

As we enter Ordinary Time, remember: Walking in the Spirit means living open — ready to receive, ready to respond, ready to be transformed.
