Walk in the Spirit: Living Faith in Ordinary Time
Welcome Moment
Some days the journey feels light and full of promise. Other days it feels long, uncertain, or heavy. Romans 15:13 reminds us that joy is not something we manufacture — it is something the Holy Spirit fills us with as we trust God step by step.
Today’s devotional invites you to discover joy not at the destination, but in the journey itself.
Scripture Immersion
Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Read it slowly. Let the words breathe hope into your spirit.
Snapshot
Imagine walking a winding trail through the woods. You don’t see the end from where you stand. The path curves, rises, dips, and disappears behind trees. But along the way you notice small gifts — sunlight through branches, birdsong, a cool breeze, the steady rhythm of your steps.
The joy isn’t only at the end. It’s in the journey.
This is how the Spirit works. He places joy in the middle of the unknown. He fills you with peace before the answer comes. He gives hope not because the path is clear, but because God is near.
Deep Dive
“May the God of hope…” Hope begins with God, not with circumstances. He is the source, the well, the steady foundation.
“…fill you with all joy and peace in believing…” Joy and peace come as you trust, not after everything is resolved. Belief becomes the doorway through which the Spirit pours His gifts.
“…so that you may abound in hope…” Not a small hope. Not a fragile hope. An overflowing, abundant hope.
“…by the power of the Holy Spirit.” This is the heart of it. You don’t create joy — the Spirit does. You don’t force hope — the Spirit grows it. You don’t chase peace — the Spirit fills you with it.
Walking in the Spirit means letting Him turn ordinary days into places where joy quietly blooms.
As you move through Ordinary Time, remember: Joy is not found in perfect circumstances but in a heart anchored in God’s hope.
