Seek What Is Good

Seek What Is Good

Called and Sent: Following Christ Day by Day

Welcome Moment

Every day offers a choice—to chase what pleases us or to seek what pleases God. The Spirit calls us to live differently, to pursue goodness not as a fleeting feeling but as a way of life.

Today’s devotional invites you to walk in the Spirit by learning to seek what is good, even when the world pulls you toward what is easy.

Scripture Immersion

Amos 5:14 “Seek good and not evil, that you may live; and so the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you.”

Pause and let this truth rest in your heart. Seeking good is not passive—it’s an active turning toward life and away from what diminishes it.

Snapshot

Imagine walking through a marketplace filled with noise and color. Every stall calls for your attention—some offering beauty, others distraction. You pause at one that glows with quiet light. Its sign reads simply: Goodness.

You step closer, realizing that goodness isn’t something to buy—it’s something to become. In a world of competing voices, the Spirit whispers: Choose what reflects Me. Every act of kindness, every word of truth, every moment of mercy becomes a seed of life in the soil of your day.

Deep Dive

“Seek good and not evil…” To seek is to move with intention. Goodness doesn’t happen by accident—it’s cultivated through prayer, humility, and love. Evil often disguises itself as convenience or comfort, but goodness requires courage.

“…that you may live…” Life flourishes where goodness is chosen. The Spirit breathes vitality into hearts that pursue righteousness, justice, and compassion.

“…and so the Lord… will be with you.” God’s presence dwells where goodness reigns. When we seek what is good, we align our hearts with His own.

Walking in the Spirit means letting goodness guide your steps—choosing grace over judgment, peace over pride, and love over indifference.

As you move through this month, remember: To seek good is to seek God Himself.

Closing Prayer

Lord, You are the source of all goodness. Teach me to seek what honors You and brings life to others. When the world tempts me toward selfishness, turn my heart toward compassion. Let my words and actions reflect Your Spirit of truth and love. May I walk each day in Your presence, choosing what is good and living in Your peace. Amen.
