Scripture Immersion
Matthew 19:21 “Jesus said to him, ‘If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.’”
Imagine the moment. The young man stands before Jesus, sincere yet torn. He wants eternal life but clings to earthly wealth. Jesus looks at him with love and offers the invitation that transforms everything: Follow Me.
Snapshot
A traveler once carried a heavy bag filled with coins as he climbed a mountain. The higher he went, the heavier the bag became. Finally, he realized he could not reach the summit unless he let it go.
When he released the weight, he discovered freedom—and the view was breathtaking.
Faith works the same way. The treasures we cling to often keep us from the heights of grace. When we release them, we find the joy of walking unburdened with Christ.
Deep Dive
“Sell your possessions and give to the poor…” Jesus isn’t condemning wealth; He’s revealing the heart’s attachments. True treasure is found in generosity and compassion.
“You will have treasure in heaven…” Heaven’s treasure is not gold—it’s love, mercy, and eternal fellowship with God.
“Then come, follow me.” Following Jesus means trusting that what we give up is nothing compared to what we gain in Him.
Walking in the Spirit means choosing eternal values over fleeting pleasures—living each day with open hands and a surrendered heart.
