Rooted in Christ

Walk in the Spirit: Living Faith in Ordinary Time

Welcome Moment

Ordinary Time invites us into a quieter rhythm — a season where faith grows deep rather than wide, steady rather than hurried. Colossians 2:6–7 reminds us that the Christian life is not just about beginning with Christ, but continuing in Him, growing roots that hold firm and bear fruit.

Today’s devotional invites you to sink your roots deeper into Jesus, letting His life nourish your everyday walk.

Scripture Immersion

Colossians 2:6–7 “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him… abounding in thanksgiving.”

Read it slowly. Let each phrase settle like seed in good soil.

Snapshot

Picture a tree standing in a field. Storms have come and gone — winds, rains, seasons of drought. Yet the tree remains steady, unmoved. Why? Because its roots reach deep into the earth, drawing strength from what cannot be seen.

Your life in Christ is like that tree.

People may see your branches — your actions, your words, your faithfulness — but the real strength lies beneath the surface. In the hidden places. In the quiet moments. In the daily choosing to remain in Him.

Roots grow slowly, but they grow strong.

Deep Dive

“As you… have received Christ Jesus the Lord…” Your journey began with grace — not effort, not achievement. You received Christ. You welcomed Him. You opened your heart.

“…continue to live your lives in him…” Faith is not a one‑time moment. It is a daily walk — step by step, breath by breath, choice by choice.

“…rooted and built up in him…” To be rooted is to be anchored. To be built up is to grow. The Spirit forms both stability and maturity in you.

“…established in the faith…” God strengthens what He plants. He makes your faith resilient, steady, enduring.

“…abounding in thanksgiving.” Gratitude is the fruit of a rooted life. It flows naturally from a heart grounded in Christ’s goodness.

As you walk through Ordinary Time, remember: The Spirit grows deep roots in quiet seasons.
