The Hidden Treasure

Called and Sent: Following Christ Day by Day

Welcome Moment

Every heart longs for meaning—for something worth giving everything to possess. Jesus speaks of a treasure hidden in a field, discovered by one who joyfully sells all to claim it.

Today’s devotional invites you to walk in the Spirit by recognizing the incomparable worth of Christ Himself—the treasure that transforms every sacrifice into joy.

Scripture Immersion

Matthew 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”

Pause and imagine the moment of discovery—the glint of gold beneath the soil, the heartbeat of wonder, the decision to give everything for what truly matters.

Snapshot

A traveler wanders through a quiet countryside, weary from the journey. He stumbles upon a field and notices something glimmering beneath the earth. Kneeling down, he uncovers a chest filled with treasure beyond measure.

He covers it again, heart racing, and runs home to sell all he owns. His neighbors think he’s lost his mind—but he knows what he’s found.

So it is with the Kingdom. When we encounter Christ, we realize that nothing compares to Him. The treasure of His presence makes every surrender worthwhile.

Deep Dive

“Hidden in a field…” God’s Kingdom is often discovered in ordinary places—in quiet prayer, in acts of love, in moments of grace.

“In his joy he goes and sells all…” True discipleship is not about loss but about love. Joy fuels surrender when we know what we gain in return.

Walking in the Spirit means living with eyes open to the treasure of Christ—seeing His worth in every moment and choosing Him above all else.
