Sunday 2026 Theme: Surrender
Opening Thoughts
There is a quiet freedom that comes when we stop trying to define ourselves by what we do, what we’ve achieved, or how others see us. In Christ, our identity is not something we build—it is something we receive. Surrendering who we think we are allows God to reveal who we truly are in Him. This is not loss; it is liberation.
Scripture for Meditation
Colossians 3:3 — “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”
Let this truth settle deeply: your truest self is held, guarded, and shaped in Christ.
Reflection Journey
To surrender identity is to release the labels we cling to—both the ones we’re proud of and the ones that wound us. We often carry names given by circumstances, failures, or expectations. But Scripture reminds us that our old self has died, and our new life is hidden in Christ.
Hidden does not mean lost. Hidden means protected. Hidden means rooted. Hidden means defined by God, not by the shifting tides of emotion, culture, or performance.
When we surrender our identity, we stop striving to prove ourselves and start resting in the One who already knows us fully and loves us completely. This surrender becomes a doorway into peace, purpose, and holy confidence.
Practices for the Week
- Name Release: Write down labels you’ve carried—positive or negative—and prayerfully surrender them to God.
- Identity Declaration: Each morning, speak one truth from Scripture about who you are in Christ.
- Quiet Abiding: Spend five minutes daily in silence, imagining your life hidden securely in Christ.
- Service from Identity: Do one act of kindness this week not to earn approval, but simply because you belong to Him.
Reflection Questions
- What labels or identities have I been holding onto that God is inviting me to release?
- How does knowing my life is “hidden with Christ” reshape the way I see myself?
- Where am I still striving for validation instead of resting in God’s affirmation?
- What would change in my daily life if I lived from my surrendered identity?
Closing Benediction
May the God who calls you His own draw you deeper into the truth of who you are in Christ. May every false label fall away, every burden of self‑definition be lifted, and every striving heart find rest in His love. Walk this week in the quiet confidence of a life hidden, held, and wholly defined by Him. Amen.
